Baldock Museum Exhibitions
The present display (until May 2024) is called ‘THE BONDOR’ and tells the story of the Baldock hosiery factory that began production in 1928 and grew into the largest hosiery manufacturers in Europe and the Commonwealth, Kayser Bondor. In its 1950s heyday 1,300 people worked for a company which was as remarkable for the many facilities it provided for its workforce as for its commercial success. It closed in 1983 and became the town’s TESCO store.
There is also a 22 minute film about Kayser Bondor called ‘A Glimpse of Stocking’ as well as other films and slide shows of pictures of the town available for viewing on the video screen in the museum.
